We have created an Exempt Properties report
on all exempt properties in the Town of New Hartford using the 2006 Final Assessment database that would
have been as of July 1, 2006. The report is an Adobe pdf file, 17 pages long
and you will need 8.5 x 14 (legal) paper to print. Adobe
Reader
is a free--if you don't already have a copy, please use the button on the menu at the left to download a copy.
For this report, I have listed TOTALS ONLY for exemptions that I deem to be of a personal nature. While
the information is public, if you would like to view the particulars, you need to
talk to the Assessor. You may need to submit a Freedom of
Information request with the Town Clerk in order to obtain the information from the Assessor's Office. As far as
business-type exemptions, that is fair game. I have listed the name of the business or not-for-profit
entities that currently are listed as having a property tax exemption.
For further
information on the Property Class
column, please visit the Office of Real Property Services (ORPS) Property
Classifications Codes page.
For further
descriptions of each of the exemptions, please visit the ORPS Exemptions
page. Use the Exemption Code
column on our report to look up each exemption on the ORPS site.
Since not all exemptions necessarily apply to town, county & school taxes, on
the report to the right of the yellow line, I have provided columns
giving you the exempt amount for each of the entities--town,
county and school.
According to the 2006 Final Roll, the total assessed value of all active parcels in the Town of New Hartford
is $1,547,184,503.
The total exemptions are as follows: $310,171,676 for school, $350,755,350 for town and $367,186,864 for
county. Also, please keep in mind that S.T.A.R. exemptions are
reimbursed by the State (in other words, us!) and so they are not
included in the totals.
