A group has been formed to advise the
Town on prioritizing, management, etc. on stormwater issues and
improvements.
At the September 12, 2007 town board meeting, the
Stormwater Advisory Group meetings were closed to the public with a vote
of 3 to 2--Reed, Payne & Reynolds voting in favor of "locking" out
residents. Read our
blog
regarding this meeting. And don't forget--Everyday is
Public Comment Day in the Town of New Hartford!
We want to remind everyone that if you have

According to the
neighborhood code description, the market values of these homes were in
the $40,000 to $75,000 range in 2001 - 2004 while we were in the State
Reassessment Program!
Assessment Debacle...... Really? I didn't know...
and what about.....? Our reply to the Town Board
regarding the Oct. 20, 2006 Observer Dispatch article.
Think
using tax map numbers to
determine neighborhood codes in the Town of New Hartford isn't a problem?
Read of our
"When Pigs Fly" series of reports.
Anyone who thought that
everyone in New Hartford was reassessed during the 2001 to 2004 assessment years will be in for a
surprise! 46% of the assessments in Neighborhood Code 4805 - The Hamlet of Chadwicks
were never raised. It's true, read our report on
Neighborhood Code 4805 - Hamlet of Chadwicks for a list of addresses and
the assessments each year.
Here's a couple of other interesting facts: In 2004 when
neighborhoods were trended - about 8% of the residential parcels in the trended
neighborhoods were never increased. And we thought trending involved
everyone!
About 28% of the parcels that were in Neighborhoods that were
reassessed in 2004 were never increased either!
I wonder how they determined what assessments to raise in each neighborhood! A report will be available
soon! Stay tuned!
They call it the
State Annual Reassessment Program and they say it is supposed to be fair.
Statistically, it should be, but improperly implemented it can be a
disaster! We are providing Town of New Hartford, NY residents with
several reports on the reassessment program in our town.
"A Rose By Any Other Name...." is a series of reports
on the State Reassessment Plan.
So far, we have written reports specifically for:
Neighborhood 4801
- Village of New Hartford 4805
- Hamlet of Chadwicks 4807 - Older Subdivisions 4809 - Newer Subdivisions 4813- Utica Influenced 4817- Starter Homes
